George Burns said those words, long ago. What he was talking about was the death of Vaudeville, and how it represented the loss of a place for new comedic talent to go and practice their craft before hitting the big time, but in truth much of what he said applies to comics as well. Declining comic sales have seen publishers who were once willing to take a chance on new talent now circling their wagons, focusing on established names instead.
This place will be a valiant attempt to change all that. It will be a spot where myself, as well as other like minded comics creators (writers, artists, inkers, letters and colorists, etc.) will be able to come and practice their craft. I have stories I want to tell and I want to collaborate with other people who want to help, or who want to tell their own.
I'm not doing it for money, although it would be nice if I could make a buck or two doing what I love. (Which, if the day does come, I intend to share fairly with all my co-creators/collaborators.) A lifetime goal of mine has been to break into comics. I want to tell complete stories here. If it gets me the notice of a professional comic company, great. I wish the same for all my collaborators. If an editor sees your work here and wants to offer you a job, then all my blessings and well wishes go with you, even if you have to leave something you're doing for me to go with them. Vaya con Dios, my friend, and go in peace.
If it doesn't, however, then at the end of the day we got to tell the stories we've always wanted to tell, and hopefully anyone who stumbles across this page and gets to read some of it gets as much enjoyment out of it as we did creating it. Also, I fully intend to take this online published material, once we get enough of it, and turn it into hard copy graphic novels, to monetize all our hard work. All profits from such ventures, if/when they come will be divided fairly amongst all my co-creators.
This is my mission; if it's yours as well, you've come to the right spot.
